UIG Applied Energetics is applying its contacts and expertise to help introduce an innovative web-based system for monitoring and controlling energy using lighting, equipment and appliances in residential and commercial settings. Several demonstration projects are underway including meeting the needs of property managers to reduce common area maintenance and homeowners dues.

ALCHEMY CT, supported by UIG Applied Energetics, is one of the founding members for ACTIA-the Washington State Association of Clean Tech Incubators and Accelerators. ACTIA will help to achieve faster commercialization of clean technologies by providing access to a network of highly experienced experts, applying consistent methods for assessing market potential and leveraging capital investment.

UIG Appied Energetics with ALCHEMY CT has launched ECO-CENTRIC. This is the first of its kind hand-on CLEAN TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATION CENTER. Located in the retail heart of a planned neighborhood along a major corridor in Snohomish County Washington, the Center will have interactive media and displays that show clean tech services and products, aimed at residential and commercial customers, actually work.

Adjacent offices, restaurants and townhomes will be equipped with certain of these clean tech products with performance monitored on displays within the Center.

Active participation of county economic development councils, chambers of commerce, master builder associations and local sustainability community groups will use the Center as a focus for holding on-going meetings will focus extensive media attention on the Center and it’s the businesses it hosts.

UIG Applied Energetics has designed a program so that multiple local governments can leverage expert resources to accelerate building owner and developer investment in energy efficiency and renewables.

The Energy Advocate Program provides structured opportunities for the exchange of project specific energy information during the process by which local governments receive, review and set conditions of approval for applications for new projects, renovations and tenant improvements.

With a seat at the table during pre-application and project reviews, the Energy Advocates serve as technical advisors to both the local government and a project proponent.

A set of tools have been prepared specific to particular residential and commercial building types. The Energy Opportunity Statement identifies specific energy efficiency measures and the various certification and incentive programs that are available. The Energy Intent Statement defines the commitments made to include energy efficiency measures within a proposed project.

UIG Applied Energetics is developing the structure for a multi-jurisdictional energy information system.

Its goal is to accelerate the rate of adoption and implementation of energy conserving measures within new and existing buildings. This would be accomplished by providing web-based information organized and accessible in ways that will significantly increase awareness and knowledge by the widest range of users. Participants include utilities, builders, developers, appraisers, local governments and community groups.

UIG Applied Energetics is providing strategic guidance for a proposed Clean Tech Accelerator to be located in Everett, Washington. The accelerator will offer mentoring, tax planning, market placement, branding and commercialization assistance services for Puget Sound clean tech entrepreneurs. Expert guidance will be available to other clean tech businesses not resident in the facility. For selected businesses, capital will be provided by an investor pool. The proposed facility will have space for up to twenty businesses.

Washington State’s Department of Commerce has selected the “Energy Efficient Transit Oriented Development Project,” submitted by the City of Mountlake Terrace and UIG Applied Energetics, for funding.

This project will apply a unique technique for setting energy use targets for properties in the City’s town center. The monitoring of actual project energy use will enable these targets to be validated and updated.

Enhancement to the City’s project review procedures will provide for the effective communication of energy efficiency opportunities among project proponents, utilities, energy service providers and vendors.

UIG Applied Energetics prepared an “Energy Efficiency Framework for Sustained Action” for rapidly growing Snohomish County, Washington.

This framework defines a five point program for creating an “energy infrastructure” – a set of combined actions that can be self-supporting, leveraging resources from the public and private sectors.

The framework highlights innovative approaches for setting energy use targets and implementing local government energy technical assistance.

Workable, low cost enhancements to typical development review procedures are profiled. These changes enable the early exchange of energy information in new and effective ways.
